Little by little

That's my new strategy: little by little. Everything little by little. Baby steps. Piece by piece. I have to process and digest things little by little. I've tried to handle all my business/stress/hardship at once and it's done nothing but make me a depressed, reclusive person who withdraws from her friends (which is unlike her), becomes sullen and negative (also unlike her) and generally has a hard time leaving the house for anything other than work. I'm not ready to say I'm clinically depressed, but I am ready to look for some help in dealing with some junk that needs to get cleared out of my head. Help is going to come in several forms and I'm formulating a plan to become an active participant in my life again. I start a new job next week, I have a gorgeous new apartment, I have people who love me, my dog lives with me now - on the whole I have everything going for me. I just have some stuff going on that needs to be taken care of. I'm going to fix me little by little.

Speaking of little by little, I painted the bathroom last weekend and it looks fabulous. I can't wait to get the rest of the painting done. We're tackling the bedroom next. It needs some help.

the girl upstairs is odd (yes you Kristie).

It's a good philosophy Melissa, life in bite sized, digestible chunks. After all, some things change anyway, some problems seem to fix themselves or become trivial while you are in the process of dealing with others?

(Or maybe fixing one thing gives you confidence and a different perspective?)

Yes, she's totally odd. We love her anyway, though. Her and her knickers. (sicko)

Thanks, Col. All of what you said is true - it's constant change a little at a time, problems that dissipate and gathered confidence that comes from the thing before.

It does sound like you have a lot of positive things going on right now for sure...

It's great that you are able to put things in perspective the way that you have - and identify the things you need to resolve, and have made a commitment to yourself to work on them one by one. That's a brave, self-caring-loving thing to do - and worth applauding!!

One day at a time...
You go girl

You're pretty darn rad, MT! It's great that you are starting to sort throught the mess, it's easy to become relusive when you are seeing nothing but clutter in your life that needs clearing. & I'm happy you're getting through it, & maybe soon you'll look around & find you've already cleaned it up, even though you had just thought you were in the middle of it.

I can give you my therapist's phone number also ;)

Little by little makes sense. Look at it like this: big bites are easier to choke on. Three months ago I was experiencing some personal drama I thought was going to mean the end of the world. Baby steps - steady, consistent baby steps - lead to more confident steps. And, as the kids like to say, it's all good now.

Sorry I'm always incredibly snoopy about what people do in with their home improvements, any chance of some photos of the new painted bathroom?? I'm guessing you picked a totally cool color, right?
