Tom Petty Was Right

The waiting is the hardest part.

No plea. 2nd plea hearing has come and gone. Still nothing. Awaiting independent psychiatric eval. My opinion? Bullshit delay tactics. He's obviously not entering a guilty plea. Even though he is. Guilty, I mean. He killed her. He shot her in cold blood at point-blank range. Rudy Fleming is his name. Nicole DuFresne was her name. I hope that someday his won't be inextricably linked with hers any longer. She deserves to be remembered for her own identity, her own life. Not for the way she was taken out of this world. Now we wait for January. Hopefully that will be the first step to freeing her memory from the pain of a reality where no one knows what her murderer's fate will be.

Sadly, the beautiful woman in this picture was killed Jan. 27 by a 19 year old who was out of jail on parole after he had committed a previous gun-related crime. He was out just in time to mug 4 of my friends while they walked home. He was out just in time to kill one of them, Nicole.

Today her murderer was supposed to enter his plea in court (even though it obvious to everyone that he did it) and his lawyer said he needed a psychiatric evaluation because he couldn't comprehend what he is being charged with - which is murder. It's all a bullshit game of legal hide & seek. He's got to plead in January and there's no way after all this that he's going to plead guilty. Which means we're all in for dragging this out longer with a very well publicized trial.

I see, that's awful.

There's such a huge disparity between the law and 'justice' at times?

You're so right. And people wonder why the "justice" system gets laughed at.
